The standard serial range suggests total revolver production exceeded 22,000.  Including some of the oddball serial ranges, perhaps it got close to 23,000.

Several years of  data collection showed the model breakdown against total production to be about as follows:

  • Deputies                   1%
  • Engraved                  1%

  • .22 caliber        32%
  • .45 Colt             21%
  • .38 Special        12%
  • .357 Atomic        9%
  • .44 Special           5%
  • .44 Magnum        5%
  • .357 Magnum      4%
  • .22 Hornet            1% or less
  • .22 Magnum         1% or less
  • .44-40                     1% or less
  • .45 ACP                   1% or less
